Riffy Ahmed

Riffy Ahmed was born in Manchester in 1985 to Bahraini/Bangladeshi parents. She studied Fine Art: New Media at Central Saint Martins and Chelsea School of Art and now works primarily as a video, performance and installation artist.

Her video triptych, ‘Excuse my language’ explores the artist's own uniquely diasporic identity, interrogating the nature of her identification with her cultural, religious and heritage despite not being able to speak the language of her ancestors. Constructed and deconstructed personas seem in the context of popular culture and framed using cinematic techniques, both uncanny and satirical.

Riffy Ahmed is the Director of Specular Collective.
