Algerian graphic artist and typographer, Mourad Krinah is critical of the mass media and its political potency. Reworking and re-contextualising images of canonical works, Krinah specialises too in the subversion of stereotypes.

 

The print he will exhibit as part of ARA-B-LESS depicts women fighters wearing Hijabs as well as military gear and carrying guns. A post Pop nod to Warholian repetition, ‘Untitled’ 2014, appears at first glance, striking yet innocuous, it is only on closer inspection that the viewer might appreciate the strength of Krinah's implication.
